- Working Conference, Aalborg, DK, 26-29 August 2001. The IFIP Working Conference on Strategic Manufacturing that was held in Aalborg 26-29 August 2001 had 70 participants representing 18 countries, equivalent to 60 full paying participants. Chaired by Professor J O Riis. A
In addition to an opening address by Professor Eeor Eloranta on future challenges, and 36 submitted papers, the conference included two keynotes speakers, respectively Professor Nigel Slack, Warwick University, UK who talked about Operations Strategy: An Agenda for Research, Teaching and Practice, and Dr. Don Rosenfield, The Leaders for Manufacturing Fellows Program, MIT, USA who presented the results of a survey on Manufacturing Strategy in the New Economy.
The 36 papers were grouped into four themes: (1) Manufacturing Strategy; (2) Methods for the Strategy Process; (3) Supply Chain Management; and (4) Organisational Issues. The papers are included in the Proceedings published for the conference with 450 pages.
The organizing committee plans to organize a special issue of selected papers in a journal.- SIG Advance Techniques in Production Planning & Control: Aalborg, DK, 26-29 August. Included in the above conference program was a Workshop on Advance Techniques in Production Planning & Control, organized by one of the Special Interest Groups of the WG5.7. A separate Proceeding with 7 papers has been published.
- SIG PMS: Glasgow, UK, 24-25 May. Chaired by Bititci and MacBryde. 29 delegates attended from 9 countries with 14 papers. Special issues of IJOPM and IJPPC are planned.
- SIG Simulation Games in Industrial Management: 6th International Workshop, “Experimental Learning in Industrial Management: Transfer & Creation of Knowledge”, University of Zaragoza, Project Engineering Area, Madrid, Spain, July 2-4.
